The decade of 70's and 80's had seen stable jobs wherein people used to join a company at the age of 20-21 and leave it only at the retirement age. Today the scenario is completely changed. One can realistically anticipate 3-4 job changes in the workable time span of an individual. Anticipating also connotes that individuals are usually prepared for such a change otherwise what hits most is the redundancy. Once shoved to redundancy people feel that their world has crashed in front of them and they are not able to take control of the situation. They feel cheated as they had given their precious years to an organization and at the end they were tagged as redundant. Work - Life Balance -You must keep a balance between your work and your personal life. Both are equally important for an individual as a balance will keep you at peace and motivated to look forward in life.
How Marketable are You - It is a good idea to keep yourself updated in the job market. Even though you are not looking forward to a job shift, it is advised that you know your value proposition so that if in near future you plan a shift in job, you should be knowing where exactly to knock. You must know how marketable are you.
Contingency Plan - Be ready with a contingency plan, if at all company plans to give you a pink slip due to some merger or take over at management level. A fall- back option will always keep you to control any external factor affecting you negatively.
Keep a Positive Approach : If faced by redundancy, do not be demotivated in life. See this as an opportunity for you to explore which otherwise you would not have experimented. Believe me if you have the right skill set, there are people in the job market, willing to employ you despite a slow down.
Act Now - Immediately take action and act rather than feeling down and worrying abut the future. Every minute counts.
Brainstorm - Brainstorm to find out what other fields of employment other than your current field of job is available. Sometime changing a field gives us a fresh refreshing start.

Take a Break - Will taking a break give you a fresh start. If so, take some time to be away from the cause and the place which cause redundancy. You will be able to take a charge of the situation.
Share with Close Friends - Share your situation with close friends. They might be knowing somebody who faced similar situation. Talking to them will generate few ideas for you to come over the situation of redundancy.
Stay Healthy - All the while, do not ignore your health and ensure proper food and rest because it is said that when wealth is lost nothing is lost but when health is lost everything is lost.
