Ibibo appoints Rammohan Sundaram as CEO of its advertising business

Vdopia announces senior hires for Europe, US

Mobile video and media advertising firm Vdopia today announced the appointment of three senior hires to strengthen its leadership team for the US and European markets.

The company has appointed Farzad Jamal as Vice President, Europe, Jason Shulman as Senior Vice President, Sales (at Vdopia's San Francisco office) and Narayanan Iyer as Senior Director of Finance, the company said in a statement.

"Vdopia is moving ahead at a great pace and building a world-class team, which has expanded dramatically over the last year to match pace with our growth," Vdopia VP APAC Preetesh Chouhan said.

TCS to hire 55,000 employees this fiscal

Tata Consultancy ServicesBSE 2.23 % (TCS) today said it will hire 55,000 employees this fiscal, including 25,000 freshers.

"We are planning to hire 55,000 this fiscal. We have already said that as far as campus hiring is concerned, it will be 25,000," TCSBSE 2.23 % Executive Vice-President and Global Human Resources Head Ajoy Mukherjee told reporters here while announcing a 48.2 per cent rise in net income in the last quarter of the past fiscal.

TCS Managing Director and Chief Executive N Chandrasekaran said: "In the just-concluded FY 2014, the company had hired 61,200 as against a target of 50,000."

Its net addition of employees, after deducting the number of those who left the organisation, stood at 24,268 in FY 2014.

Infy leadership institute head quits

Bangalore: Matthew F. Barney, vice-president and director of the Leadership Institute at Infosys Ltd responsible for grooming the next firm’s leaders, has quit to start his own consulting venture Leaderamp.

At least two company executives, on condition of anonymity, confirmed Barney’s resignation.

Barney, 43, joined Infosys in January 2009 to help India’s second biggest software services firm identify and groom its top leaders. He was also involved in succession planning for the Infosys founders who are set to pass on management to professional managers by 2014 after the current chief executive (the last of the founders to be at the helm) steps down.

“We do not comment on the appointments or resignations of executives other than board and executive council members,” a spokesperson for Infosys said.

Lazard India Chairman Balakrishnan resigns

MUMBAI: K Balakrishnan, the chairman and managing director of Lazard India, a boutique investment bank has resigned after nine years at the helm. The 53-year-old Balakrishnan, or Bala as he is widely known, joined Lazard in 2004 as chairman from Hongkong and Shanghai Bank Corporation where he was heading the investment banking business of the firm.

Currently, Balakrishnan holds around 25% stake in Lazard India while the rest of the stake is held by the London-based parent of the India franchise. He would have to sell his stake back to the parent company, said people familiar with the matter. Balakrishnan confirmed his resignation but refused to divulge details of his future plans.

VFS Global CEO Zubin Karkaria appointed on executive board of Kuoni Group

NEW DELHI: UK-based VFS Global today said it's Chief Executive Officer Zubin Karkaria has been appointed as a member of the Executive Board of the Kuoni Group, a leading global travel and destination management services company.

Zubin, the first Asian to serve on the Executive Board of Kuoni Group will also continue in his existing role, VFS Global said in a statement.

"He will now report to the Chief Executive Officer of Kuoni Group, Peter Rothwell. Simultaneously, VFS Global has been made a separate business division of Kuoni Group," it added.

Commenting on the development, Kuoni Group CEO Peter Rothwell said: "I am convinced that his rich experience and dynamic leadership qualities will contribute positively to the functioning of the Executive Board and to the overall performance of the Kuoni Group."

Tata Global Beverages appoints L Krishnakumar as Executive Director

MUMBAI: Tata Global Beverages, which sells tea brands like Tata Tea and Tetley, today said it has appointed L Krishnakumar as Executive Director with effect from April 1.

Krishnakumar is currently the group chief financial officer of Tata Global Beverages and heads the finance, planning, governance and IT functions.
